We are excited to announce the A round investment in outbrain.
The rest of the details about the investment you can find in our blog.
I prefer to
give here some personal view.
I prefer to give here some personal view.
We’ve done long way since we founded outbrain 18 months ago. Since the days Yaron’s official office was the Starbucks (in NY) and I worked from the cold office in the orange plantation (in IL).
Since our first (unintentional) announcement in Rogel’s blog, which we were not ready for with users registration, but really hit us by the huge number of people that simply loved the idea and kept digging the story and shooting us emails with registration requests. This was one of the moments I was saying… “Damn… we are onto something”, now it’s just work to do.
And we did. We developed the API that enabled the integration with partners. We’ve set up a proper Datacenter and scalable back-end architecture. We worked hard to build the small rating widget that carries so much wisdom and all our beliefs about a web service which you can read all about it here.
The rating widget engagement is simply great and we can really see that every hour we put into it, every back and forth cycles and close beta periods really pays.
We know the numbers, and we know the engagement slopes, we are great believers in what we do. But one of the great proofs to me was this point of investment.
All 3 funds
that made this A round investment, Gemini, Lightspeed and GlenRock Israel, are
following us for more then a year now. Since our seed investment which they were all part
They know us internally, they know how we operate and execute, and decided to back us with this round as they believe in this team and it's vision.
word for the team.
You joined us when there was really nothing here, just 2 people, with vision, some experience and 2 blogs. You have created a working operation machine that delivers quality products in relatively short time with very few people. You are the true Sailors we want on board our ship.
Thank you all.
