I hate to refer to other blogs but in this one I have to.
Just read this post by Greg Linden which generally dealing with YouTube success. But one of Greg's conclusions pinched me up:
I suspect a bigger opportunity lies with helping people find and discover interesting videos on demand, effectively helping people create their own TV stations customized to their own interests.
Well, I suspect that what Greg tried to do with Findory, but for blogs and news and unfortunately stopped the effort.
Greg is pointing here to personalized channels of information. The first association that come into our mind is the successful PANDORA.
So if Pandora can do it for music why cant others do it for movies or news or books or....
I'll tell you why, since music is great to be played in the background, I'm listening to Pink Floyd while writing this post. Can you write a post while watching a video or reading news/blogs? probably not. That's because these activities demand your full attention.
Having a personalized stream of fully attention data (i.e. video/news) is great- but unfortunately we (I mean the working 21st century homo-sapience with family) don't have time to spend on this.
Speaking of personalization, I would like to have the information flood filtered for me. Don't give me more to read. Simply filter the crap.
Another post about it - from Yaron Galai
